Maidstone Leisure Centre Upcoming Works - Gym Refurbishment
So… what are the plans?
We are upgrading your fitness experience with a brand-new cardio suite and installing an upgraded free weights area and a range of the latest Hammer Strength plate-loaded equipment.
We hope these exciting changes to the gym will be welcome news to our members and we can't wait for everyone to enjoy these new facilities.
When will the works start?
There has been some change to the intended works schedule which can be found below.
Lockmeadow Health Club Schedule of Works:
▪ Close at the end of day, 9th July.
▪ Kit removal 10th, 11th, 12th – July.
▪ Flooring installation 15th - 19th July.
▪ Dumbbells/Plates/equipment install w/c 22nd July.
▪ Reopen - 27th July.
Maidstone Leisure Centre Schedule of Works:
▪ Close at the end of day, 23rd July.
▪ Kit removal 24th & 26th.
▪ Flooring installation 29th - 31st July.
▪ Dumbbells/Plates/Equipment install w/c 5th August.
▪ Reopen – 10th August.
Please note that only the gym is affected – all other services remain as previously advertised
Can I use Lockmeadow Health Club during the closure period?
Yes, we are pleased to advise that for gym only access (not swim and classes), your Health and Fitness membership will be valid for this short period at our neighbouring facility. Meaning Lockmeadow Health Club members can use Maidstone Leisure Centre gym between 10th July – 23rd July 2024 and Maidstone Leisure Centre Health and Fitness members can use Lockmeadow Health Club between 27th July – 9th August 2024.
Please be aware that some of the equipment may differ slightly, so please speak to a member of staff if you are unsure. The car parking arrangements are slightly different at each facility but please speak to a receptionist who will direct you to the free parking provision at each facility.
So there is a couple of dates that I cannot use either gym?
Unfortunately, so. Please be aware that there are three dates (24th, 25th & 26th July) whereby neither gyms will be available. We do appreciate that this is far from ideal, but trust that our loyal members will understand that the loss of three days verses the vast improvements will be well worth the short disruption.
Please note that the dates could be subject to slight change, while we respond to contractor timelines.
What equipment can I expect to see?
The latest range of Life Fitness Cardio Equipment including treadmills, cross-trainers, bikes, PowerMills and more. There will be an improvement to the strength area with the inclusion of Life Fitness Insignia series pin loaded equipment on top of the latest range of Hammer Strength Plate loaded Equipment. In addition to this, there will be an upgrade of the free weights area to include new power racks with lifting platforms and a larger range of dumbbells.
How is the layout and equipment going to change from what we have now?
There isn’t a dramatic change to the layout, but the floor is being replaced to update the general experience.
Will Group Exercise classes be affected?
With the exception of small group training on the gym floor, there will be zero disruption to the workout timetable.

Will we be inducted on the new equipment?
Most of the new equipment will display a QR code that can be scanned to receive an instant demonstration on how the equipment works but if you feel like you need more support why not book in for a ‘Get Going’ session where one of our team can make sure you are
comfortable in the new environment.

Will there be improvements to the changing rooms and lockers?
The changing rooms and lockers will receive a refurbishment in December and more will be communicated once the finer detail are confirmed. Naturally, we will advise how this may impact members, school swimming or public usage but we expect the pools to stay open.
Will pricing change with the new upgrades?
No. We are pleased to advise that there are no immediate plans to upgrade existing customers membership subscription in response to these changes.
Will car parking be affected during this period?
No. We do not expect there to be any major impact on parking but obviously there will be some element of delivery and short access disruption
