Meet your new Mote Park Outdoor Activity Manager!
Kent has a brand-new thrill seeker! Terry George is the new Outdoor Activity Manager at Mote Park Adventure Park - and he is keen to build on the sites' success.
Terry, 31, is originally from Maidstone and brings a wealth of experience after running the extreme sports department on world-leading cruise liners from Singapore to Brisbane and everywhere in-between.
He says he embraces the fast-paced environment of outdoor pursuits:
“I love working outdoors and bringing my experiences from abroad”, he said.
“I’ve worked on major cruise liners with over 3,000 people aboard and it was up to me to ensure the guests were having the time of their lives.
“We had laser tag, climbing walls, bouncy slides, everything you could want - but on water!”
Terry has also previously worked in Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools and thinks that having experience with those children has helped him get more kids involved at Mote Park.
“I love the welfare aspect of the job – I find it so rewarding when there’s a child who is struggling on the climbing wall and I talk them through their next move, and I can literally see their confidence grow.
“When they finally complete a section of the course – it’s so satisfying as an instructor”.
Terry has vast experience in managing large teams and he believes that if the staff are happy then guests will also enjoy themselves more.
“I love managing people and being head of a team. I enjoy looking after my staff both personally and professionally and I think it’s important to have that balance between work and play.
“Safety is paramount, but I think if the staff are enjoying themselves, then that will rub off onto the guests using the facilities”.
Terry’s favourite part of Mote Park is the Sky Trail. A two-storey obstacle course where children are clipped onto a harness and have the freedom to choose to tackle the spinning logs, ropes, or ladders from a height of either 16 or 32-feet – but he thinks there is still room for improvement!
“The Sky-Trail is fantastic, but there are so many aspects to The Park. Whether it’s the Segway experience, or the Climbing Wall, or even the Dino Golf, there is literally something for everyone and I think there’s so much potential for the place to grow and we’ve got some great ideas in the pipeline with birthday parties and team building events”.
Next time you’re at Mote Park, pop in and say hello to Terry and he’ll be happy to show you around!
